Settings

Open Settings with Cmd/Ctrl+, or from the sidebar. Settings are grouped by what they affect: your account, your preferences, the current workspace, sync/storage, desktop behavior, AI, and integrations.

Account

Use Account settings to manage your profile, security, sessions, and account-level preferences.

  • Profile: update your display name, avatar, email preferences, accepted legal-policy state, and account deletion flow.
  • Security: change your password, enable authenticator-app TOTP or email OTP when available, review recent security activity, and manage suspicious-login email alerts.
  • Sessions: review devices/sessions and revoke ones you no longer trust. Signing out revokes the current server session before clearing local state.
  • Usage & Cost: review AI usage, hosted-AI plan budget state, current limits, and billing entry points when billing is configured.

AuroraCloud account creation is invite-gated. You can still try the hosted web app in Browser storage without an AuroraCloud account.

Preferences

Use Preferences for device and UI choices:

  • language: English or Norwegian Bokmal
  • theme: light, dark, or system
  • accent color
  • typography and content density
  • sidebar/right-panel behavior
  • date, language, and timezone defaults
  • notification preferences
  • calendar connections
  • custom CSS

Many preferences are device-local first. When Local folders are enabled, Aurora also stores a non-secret device-settings snapshot in the Local files root so the same folder can restore familiar layout and behavior on another device.

Workspace

Workspace settings apply to the current workspace and are usually owner-only.

  • rename the workspace
  • upload or change workspace branding
  • manage members and roles
  • control feature availability for chat, publishing, sharing, AI, comments, canvas, and similar workspace features
  • control whether members can enroll the workspace for offline/local folder downloads
  • manage workspace MCP tokens

Workspace assets, shared covers, and branding media use the shared workspace-asset library instead of one-off file URLs.

Data And Sync

Use Data, Sync, and Workspace sync / Local folders settings to:

  • see the active storage mode
  • promote Browser storage to Local folders or AuroraCloud
  • enable or remove Local folders per workspace
  • choose the Local folder format: Aurora JSON or Clean Markdown
  • run Sync now
  • inspect pending, failed, conflicted, delayed, or stuck sync work
  • recover stuck sync items or reset sync cursors
  • export or restore backups
  • manage encryption for supported workspaces

For details, see Sync & storage and Import & export.

Desktop

The desktop app adds a Desktop settings area for native behavior:

  • updater channel and update status
  • folder watcher status
  • Desktop sync center
  • Recent file activity log
  • re-scan and re-authorize actions for Local folders
  • native diagnostics export
  • custom AuroraCloud API endpoint for self-hosted setups

For details, see Desktop app.

AI And Plugins

Use AI settings to configure BYOK providers, hosted-AI preference, default models, semantic workspace retrieval, image generation models, and whether desktop provider keys should persist in the OS keychain.

Use Plugins for bundled or local development plugins. Remote plugin marketplace/package installation is not a general user feature yet; see Building plugins for the current developer-preview surface.
