Flashcards
AuroraDocs has a built-in spaced-repetition flashcard system based on the SM-2 algorithm — the same algorithm behind Anki. Create cards from any text in the editor and review them daily.
Creating a flashcard
- Select any text in the editor.
- Right-click → Create flashcard, or use the context menu.
- The selected text becomes the back of the card (the answer).
- Give it a front (the question/prompt) in the dialog that appears.
Reviewing flashcards
Click Review in the sidebar (or navigate to /review) to start your daily review session.
- Cards due for review are shown one at a time.
- Read the front, recall the answer, then reveal the back.
- Rate how well you remembered: Hard, OK, or Easy.
- The SM-2 algorithm schedules the next review based on your rating.
How SM-2 works
| Rating | Effect |
|---|---|
| Hard | Card resets to a 1-day interval. Review again tomorrow. |
| OK | Normal interval increase based on ease factor. |
| Easy | Large interval increase. Card reappears much later. |
Cards you know well appear less frequently. Cards you struggle with appear more often. The ease factor adjusts over time — consistently easy cards accelerate away, while hard cards stay close.
Stats and history
The review page has two tabs: Review and History.
The History tab shows:
- Stats bar — total cards, reviewed today, and current streak (consecutive days with at least one review).
- Sortable table — every card with its front text, last reviewed date, last rating (colour-coded pill), and next review date.
- Filter pills — filter the table by rating: All, Easy, OK, or Hard.
- Practice All — re-shuffle all cards (not just due ones) for extra practice.
Managing cards
- Delete a card — click the trash icon below a card during review. A confirmation dialog appears before removal.
- Go to source — click the source link below a card to jump to the page where it was created.
Review streak
The review page shows your current streak and how many cards are due today. Try to review every day to keep the queue manageable.
Tips
- Keep cards atomic — one fact per card.
- The best time to create a card is right after you learn something.
- Review first thing in the morning before you start work.
